i have a 79 wagon and i want to put the fresh 429 and new c6 in my 67 f100. The car has all power inside and out i want to total customise the truck from everything in the car all the way down to the front suspension(to support the extra weight) The truck had a 302 i think in it. Will this task be fairly easy or will i end up pulling out my hair.
thanks

You won't have to swap the suspension out for the 429... The old twin-i is plenty strong and dosen't take much to make it ride just as well as any other IFS in a truck... (and its a truck suspension) As Dennis said, do a forum search for engine swap and you will probably find all the info your looking for.
No but i went through all the pages and didnt see anything. Im sure engine will fit but i was more cocerned about the power controls like windows and seats aand also the a/c. The station wagon was a special order from the factory with a super heavy duty suspension and i was also wondering about it fitting.
thanks

On the windows and locks you'll have to tear into the doors and see if they are even remotely similar. That kind of swap will take some fabrication and ingenuity. I've never had a 79 wagon, so I'm not familiar with its window regulators and such. The seats won't be tooo hard to make fit, but you will likely have to build brackets to make them sit level in the truck. If you do that, be sure to use steel not wood, and reinforce the floor.
As for the A/C, if you swap the motor in you have a compressor and mount and the condensor could probably be made to work. With some engineering you might get the inside unit to work, but I would suggest buying an underdash unit from an aftermarket company such as vintage air, old air products, or the like.
Honestly, I don't know how heavy the suspension was on the wagon, but it would have to be pretty beefy to be heavier than the truck suspension. Twin I beam was used into the 90's and is a good suspension that can take the abuse. Whether it would fit or not would just take some measuring and custom fab work. I would just put new bushings in the beams, new springs, and find a later model truck to swap disc brakes in from.
This engine swap is a standard one- I think L&L, Advance, and others have adapters. I believe I read in another post somewhere that the 390 is heavier than 385 series motor. As to other goodies from the wagon, like Tyson says, sure anythings possible but I think much of what you can salvage would be very difficult to adapt. A1 electric makes power window conversion specific for '67, and it works, '67 didn't use typical door locks, Seats might adapt good though, if so let us know.
That would have to be a heck of special order to get a 79 wagon with a 429 and super heavy duty suspension, considering the 429 expired as an option in the early seventies and a 351w was the main engine in those... The 429/460 were the same mounting so any 460 73-79 truck will give you the engine and trans mounts. Some guys have welded the front frame section from the cars to the truck frame but it's easier to get the front springs from a 460 truck and bolt them in.
well I think the car did come with the 351w and they put the 429 in later. but as for the suspension that was part of what they had cust. ordered. i guess im just going to tear into them and see what happens. I will try to keep you guys udated and if run into a snag iwill definatly ask some ?'s.
thanks

go HERE and email them saying you wish to put a 429 in a 67 F100, and they can hook you up.
And as mentioned above, search the site here. Try asking in the 385 series forum about your desire, I'm sure someone has done this swap. I've seen several personally, but do not know all the details, so I can't help you further, but this should be a good start.
The ONLY concern you should have with your front suspension is if the 67 has a 6 cylinder in it now, or had one stock. The front springs for the Inline-6 and the 360/390 V8's were different, and putting a heavy V8 on those skimpy 6-banger springs will have you wandering lanes a bit more than you want!
