The trucks seems to Idle Rough in Park and Drive, Cold or Hot. It mellows out as soon as I give it gas but at stop lights or in park it goes back to a seemingly rough idle.
This is my first Ford Ranger and dont know if its normal. No code or dummy lights.
When it seems rough at idle, what does the rpm read???? If you switch the AC on, does it idle up, or does the idle get worse????
If the idle speed is low or gets worse with the AC on, the IAC belongs on your suspect list. The Idle Air Control (IAC), is located on the end of the intake air tube that attaches to the throttle body & often acts out & causes mischief. Maybe try removing & cleaning it with a plastic safe spray like CRC QD, or MAF sensor cleaner, keeping the IAC black cap & electrical connector up, so the solvents don't run in & cause mischief with the little air filter under the cap, or run into the solenoid windings & cause insulation problems.
Cleaning may not last, it didn't for me, but was a good trouble shooting step.
Some thoughts for consideration, let us know how your trouble shoot goes.
i dont find the 2.3 to be the smoothest idle,i would try to get use of an IDS and do a power balance test, could be a bad plug, wire,or coil
looking to see if the balance is lower any one hole would be a start
