My 99f250 Superduty.V-10
3 years ago I replaced the compressor and what ever else it needed.
It worked great for 1 year. Then no cool. The mechanic said it was low, probably had a very slow leak.
He filled it and worked great till last spring.
I added some freon and it worked great till this spring.
It's still cooling to about 68/70 Not cool enough
I thought I'd add some freon.
Not working this time?
Check all of your connections, one of my connections down on the lower side under the truck had come loose. Air would come on but would not cool down. Also when you just add freon you does it have oil in it. If its leaking freon out it probably leaking the oil out that keeps everything lubed.
I replaced the compressor on my 6.8 about 21 months ago. Danged thing leaked down last summer so I added some refrigerant and dye. Well, the thing is leaking where the two halves of the compressor body meets which means a defective rebuild from Four Seasons via Oreilly's. At least I have the two year warranty version, so I only need to foot the bill for all the other materials (refrigerant, accumulator, o-tube) as well as spending an afternoon replacing it....
