4R100 issues. Doesn’t make sense.

2002 ford 7.3 superduty 4r100, fluids are topped off, smellokay, cleaned connections….<o></o>

<o></o> Cutting my truck inhalf to stretch it and I get it done and painted and 2 days prior to leaving tothe dunes it goes into protect. (1-3rdonly if I remember right). I am thinkingmaybe a welding burr got up there and burned the harness. (Highly unlikely cause we were well behind theharness). I take a 99 2x4 harness andput on it (mines an 02). No luck. Take it to ford they say bad tranny or solenoidpack so I put solenoid pack in it (I was determined to get to the dunes). Didn’t work. Went and bought a craigslist tranny (allegedly had 120 on it) and my 14 year old daughter and I threw itinto the truck. Same deal it’s inprotect. (mild fit and lots of cussingensue…… them things are heavy!!!). So mydune trip is shot. I run to the salvageyard and grab a harness for my truck put it on fixed. YAY ME!!!! <o></o>

<o></o> So I drive it for coupleyears and it starts slipping a little about 3 months ago. I drop the pan switch out solenoids and newfilter ect… really not to bad inside. Standardwear I would guess) seems to be a littlebetter but now it has to run to 2300 rpm let off for 2 count and it shifts in firstonly. The rest of the gears are fineunless you absolutely stand on it and it downshifts hard then it goes intoneutral. Okay I know what you’rethinking why not put the other one backin… I would have but the inner shaftthat wraps around the main is now broken probably from me taking it out or mybuddy moving it with a bobcat (school of hard knocks is a pain). But wait. It gets better. So then one day Irun the hell out of it. 100mph…. fixed. Runs great, can get on it, shifts good. It’s great for 30 daysmaybe. So I am rough on it driving itthrough ponds and stuff but no towing other than its big ol self<o></o>

A few days ago itscold here like 28 for the low (nothing unusual) and I go to take off and it’slike the breaks are on. I put it inreverse and no they aren’t. My guess istorque converter is locking up solid from the word go. But I am not sure.<o></o>

Soo finally to my question. Am I pushing debris through mytransmission or experiencing electrical problems? The harness should be fine for thetransmission. No mods from there forward. Now it has been in some water from drivingthrough ponds..<o></o>

<o></o>Educated guesses? Somethingto try?<o></o>

<o></o>I am gonna get my 90,000 mile tranny over hauled with my taxreturn just trying to limp by for a week or two<o></o>

You would have saved yourself a lot of work and money if you had checked for codes before blindly replacing parts. That's relevant now because I think that's what you're ready to try again.

Without the codes NOBODY knows what's wrong. I can guess, but my guess is worth what you paid me for it.

If you really want me to guess, I'm going to guess that the trans that is in there now came out of a 2001 truck. That means it has a mechanical diode one way clutch, and the mechanical diode is failing. They all fail. When they fail the trans won't make a 1-2 shift unless you lift off the go pedal. Yes, it is spreading metal parts throughout the trans, which will cause all kinds unpredictable issues.

I should have mentioned that I did have the codes read the first time by ford but it gave me the same thing that my predator programmer was saying. I did run codes again with the predator and it came back with noting.
