I apologize in advance if this specific problem has been covered before. However, I searched and could only find threads pertaining to the ABS light...anyways, here goes.
My brake lights don't work. Turn signals, tail lights, hazard flashers work, but if I hit the brake, nothing happens. What could possibly be the problem? Could there be a wiring issue?
Thanks in advance for any help, it's greatly appreciated!
Most likely its just the brake light switch, whether pedal mounted or a pressure activated type, I'm not that familiar with that year and model of brake system though.
92 still has it on the pedal arm. If you have the third brake light on this truck, and it does not work either, that also points to the pedal switch, or a blown fuse for this circuit.
A 92 was SUPPOSED to have a high-mount stop lamp since it's been a requirement since 84...
In addition to the fuse and the switch, it's not uncommon for the wiring to the switch to fail inside the insulation right at or adjacent to the brake pedal switch.
If the fuse is blown and the truck is equipped with cruise, check for a leaky pressure switch on the master cylinder and if recall 05S28 is still open on the truck.
