My 96 bronco with 5.0. I put headers on my trk. On the right side of the motor their is a metal line, it has rubber hose on both ends. On the end to the front of the motor, the rubber line is connected to a plastic pcs that looks like it has a bubble in it. The bubble has a direction on it (-->, <--). I can't remember with direction... The back of the line goes to something behind and above the motor. Maybe the egr valve? I just need to know the direction front or back???
The metal line is part of the Thermactor plumbing. The front end of the line attaches to the smog pump with the piece "with the bubble in it" between it and the pump. The "bubble" is a resonator for the air coming out of the pump. The arrow on the part indicate the direction of airflow through the part. Make sure that the arrow is pointing AWAY from the end of the hose coming from the smog pump. (Arrow TOWARDS the rubber hose on the front end of the metal tube that runs down the side of the engine). The aft end of the tube has its rubber section of hose attached to the Diverter Valve which is mounted behind the passenger side cylinder head. From the Diverter valve one rubber hose runs to the Thermactor air injection check valve at the back of the engine. The check valve is attached to the air injection crossover pipe between the aft end of both cylinder heads. The OTHER hose from the Diverter Valve runs to the Thermactor Air Injection check valve mounted to end end of the pipe that feeds the catalytic converter.
I haven't ever actually gone in search of one but I imagine you can. Worst case scenario, you might have to dig through a salvage yard for it. I know you can purchase the check valve(s) from parts suppliers but I just am not sure about the crossover pipe.
As for the metal line that comes up from the catalytic converter, I have replaced them before with pieces of stainless steel tubing of the same diameter as the original part. Its a bit pricey but you will not have the problem of it rusting away again.
