My 98 f150 4.6 has been having some engine issues. wasn't run for awhile, then had problems starting. I got it started and have been using regularly now and starts ok, but after warming up, starts to run rough. Idles rough at lights and seems to not have good power. Shut it off and always starts the next morning. Then same thing, after warming runs rough. Well today used it and then tried to restart after sitting only about 30-45 minutes and almost started, but then wouldn't. let it sit and almost started again. tried and seemed like there wasn't any fire at all. turned over great, but no firing at all. then after maybe 20 tries toi start and sitting for about 40 minutes, it fired right up and ran fine until warming up, then idled rough again. any comments, suggestions or help is so greatly appreciated. thanks in advance!
What all codes is it throwing? The next thing to do is run some seafoam through the injectors to clean them up. Knowing if it is trowing code and what codes will be helpful. The other thing I'd look at is EGR and PCV valves and all the vacuum lines to make sure there are no leaks.
Whoever changed the thermostat put the gasket underneath instead of on top. So fluid leaked into the 5th cylinder chamber and shorted the coil on the spark plug wire. Replaced and seems to be running ok. Thanks.
