I had some miss fires and replaced the the plug wires, ran ok till it got up to temperature then starts to miss,CEL blinking get code read at Auto Zone, insuffcient egr flow, cleaned out intake ports, new egr, junkyard plastic DPFE,runs good first thing in the morning,go about 3or4 miles then starts to miss any ideas?
Thanks, I was starting to think that after reading some other threads. Will packs off a crown vic or some other 4.6 work? Also do think it could be plugs since I haven't changed them yet?
Was a bad cop for me , and I had the misfire codes read. The cops are the same, so why not use a used one if it solves your issue? The ones on your truck now are used also.
I put 6 of the 8 plugs in it,started it up and it ran good for 2 days then it was back to missing again, dropped it off at the shop after work,I can't take it anymore ,hopefully he can figure it out
Mechanic tells me #3 and#4 plugs are cross threaded and stuck in the head, these are the ones that are causing the miss says it's a big job and doesn't even want to fix it.I think I'm better off just finding another head, any ideas on what other 4.6 heads will work?
you need to find a new mech. if they are crossthreade, you can get a kit from standard that includes thread fixer, plug and boot and spring for about 80 bucks. use sparkplug socket to screw it in
