Unhappy Starting problems ..Sensor?

My truck
1989 Ford F250
7.3 Diesel
Non Powerstroke

It starts fine as long as it is plugged up. And once I get it started it will continue to start for the day just fine. If I don't plug it up during the night it is extremely hard to start.
This is what I have replaced so far:
Put in new Glow Plug controller
(Started Ok for about a week then went back to same hard start)
New Autolite Glow Plugs
(Started Ok for about a week then went back to same hard start)
Could it have anything to do with the Engine Temperature Switch or the
Cold Timing Advance Solenoid?
We live in rual area of WV and still have super slow dial up, so If you ask me a question and I don't get back to you quick hang on I will answer.

we try to stay away from autolights, motorcrafts are the preferred.
and to my knowledge there is no temp sensor.

sounds a bit like you keep hitting a wire that is shorting, what happens if you just shake the wires going to the glow plug controller?

what does the wait to start light do?

btw welcome to fte

Misspoke I installed Motorcraft replaced the autolights.
Before I changed the glow plugs the wait to start light wouldn't even stay on 5 seconds. That changed with the new glow plugs. Now it stays on longer.
I'll check to see about shaking the wire to the glow plug controller.
What do you know about a fast idle temp sender (cold idle advance) that is connected to a Timing advance electrical tab. I'm using diagrams from off the internet to get the terms I'm using. I hope it's the right names for the parts.

the temp sensor is the controller on the erly systems screws into the head,,the late model controler is bolted to back of intake,,conferm that you have a good power source to the controller,,bad conection?,,will provide intermitant function,,

Shook the wires and nothing happened. Wait to start light stayed on didn't flash or anything. I just burned my starter up guess from all the cranking. Thankfully I bought the one with a life time warranty. My fast idle doesn't work. If I cross it over it will work. Would this have anything to do with my problem?

Replaced the starter and the truck has been starting like a dream. Could have been a big part of the problem. If anyone knows anything about the fast idle and how it hooks up or if you can point me to some diagrams I would appreciate it.

12 volts to the sending unit in the block under the alternator. from there the power goes to the fast idle/timing advance on the injector pump.
it is next to impossible to get to the sender to check if the plug is on properly.
