Don't get me wrong; I like the look of the gauge and agree it's a fair price for what you get and a GREAT way to save space. However, trying to distinguish between a couple pounds of boost when you're only using MAYBE half the range of the gauge might be tough. That's all I'm saying.

I'm using a Banks 0-15psi boost gauge (no vacuum) and like it a lot.

To what end? To me boost guage tells me 1: im making boost or not 2: reasonably close to how much 3: if im making too much. Whether im making 15 or 16lbs doesnt matter to me.

To each their own, im simply saying i would not buy a 0-15 guage to run 15lbs of boost. Buddy of mine is having the same problem, 30lb guage in his cummins, pegs it all the time.

To me this would be the equivelant of running a 0-200* temp guage, or a 0-45lb oil press guage or a 12-14volt guage lol

but 99.9999% of turbocharged idi owners are not running 15 psi boost.we're running under 10 psi.so to most a 0-15 psi ranged boost gauge fits the bill best as it's easier to read.

I would say youre percentage is on the conservative side. First hand experience (not counting FTE) tells me most turbo IDI's are running 15-20 with some 20+

For instance, there are 6 IDIs around here that i know of local. 4 are turbo, of those four, one is factory, cranked wastegat pump - says he sees 19-20lbs on hard pulls, 2 have old non-gated banks, both of those are firmly in the 15-20 range, mel claims over 20, but i took that with a grain of salt. The other is an 088 that a guy i work with had on is 7.3 with a 20psi guage, said under a load he would max the guage regularly, never knew what it was actually hitting.

So based on that alone, not only are there more IDIs running around here than i ever thought, but most of them have aftermarket turbos which i found even more surprising. On top of that, none were left at thier "intended" settings.

I live in a very small community 100mile radius, theres proabably 250 people. However, as this is predominantly ranching country, theres probably close to 3 pickups per person lol.

So in short, based on my findings locally, 1% of vehicles (that ive found) are IDI, of those 67% are turbocharged, and of those 100% are running well above 10lbs.

Food for thought

Mike

that makes my 6 - 7 intercoolered psi (and even that is the quick full under load high peaks) seem like im not even fueling i guess lol.she's getting right along nicely though on this summer fuel so im not touching a thing.
anyway, needless to say i don't have to monitor my boost gauge much.

This is why I went ahead and got the bigger gauges for mine. JUST in case I do a complete build, all areas will be covered.
Granted, probably will not need them but, I have them.

Ya, im not saying you need an 80psi boost gauge on an IDI, of course not. (79 is getting a 60 and 92 is getting a 40 hehe)

This is kinda detracting from the OPs question though. My point was, i would not pass that guage up simply because it has a little extra range on it.
