the problem is, it has a really high idle. you pretty much can put it in drive and it will idle up and down the road, hell i let it idle from behind the building(its a little bit of a hill and a ditch)where i live,
can anyone tell me where the idle adjustment is on this engine?
Check for codes. It sounds like vacuum leak, but could be anything. There is a throttle stop screw, but don't tamper with it.
You can pull codes with a paperclip or analog meter for free or a code reader for about $35.
There's a certain procedure on Mustangs to adjust the idle, and I assume it's the same on the F150. You can't just start messing with the little stop screw.
Idles speed is computer controlled so there are no adjustments just a base throttle plate setting that should not be altered, so if something is out of whack the computer won't control it properly. Possible causes range from a sticking throttle cable to a worn throttlebody, to a gummed up IAC valve or a TPS sensor with a dead spot, or you could have a large vacuum or gasket leak. As suggested pull the codes first, if nothing else that will eliminate a bunch of electronic possibilities and then you can focus on the mechanical issues.
