Ok so ive bought lots of stuff from rock auto and have had great success. No issues with the company. My mother gives me a gift card from them every year for my birthday and thought about ordering the rebuilt steering box for my 64 F 100. I don't need anything else for my truck that they sell and the gift card is about to expire. Question is: anyone have any good/bad luck with the boxes thy sell?
I already researched it.... You send them your steering gear box, and they shop it out for a rebuild to Lares Corp It is a pretty good price, and the re-builder is very reputable, but the time involved could be bit of a pain.... send to Rock Auto, who then sends it to Lares.... why not find out what Lares Charges, and skip the middle man.. it might be cheaper... or find a local shop to rebuild it, which would most likely be much quicker...
Ok we'll that is good info. I checked and the price directly from Lares is slightly cheaper. My thing is I have $200 in gift cards to use! So I think rock auto is the way to go. Thanks for the help.
Not sure if this is the company that machines the bottom out to install a bushing like Ford should have when it was new. BUT if your going to rebild your box, I would do it right. JMO

redheadsteeringgears.com machines the case to install sector shaft bearings: Only apples to Ford/Saginaw integral P/S that came without these bearings.
