steering box
Hey guys just wondering where to get a good steering box. I found one new box and the rest are rebuilds. Got the number from a guy on www.fullsizebronco.com Any other suggestions!

Steering Box
After reading many stories about how bad some of the rebuilds were I asked the sme question. Someone suggested Red-Head Steering Gear in Seattle. The core return was easy as they sent a UPS paid label. I installed their rebuild and it is like new. See their web site for the extra stuff they do which costs more but worth it.

I've had Auto-zone and Advance auto rebuilds. I was not happy and got a AGR. It was worse than Advanced auto and twice the price. I've heard good things about the Redhead. The other suggestion, get a box out of a Two wheel drive Ford Explorer in a junk yard. It is the same and doesnt have much ware because of the lighter duty vihical. Sounds logical.

I have been meaning to try using friction modifier in the pump, was told that by a ford mechanic---roundtuits again. Also would like to tear into a pump sometime because someone said the noise was actually a harmonic noise created by some sort of 1-way valve or pressure valve internal to the pump, dont know about that--havnt confirmed it. I have discovered that the infamous belt noise is not slippage, but apparently a harmonic generated noise also. Anyway I am watching the thread on changing out to the other brand of pump.
