6.0 Running rough - Dashboss data

Fuel Filters!?
Well, since it's not throwing codes, but runs like cr** and can't get out of it's own way, I decided to drain the water trap and look at the fuel filters. I was also looking to make sure I didn't find any metal gridings or anything in the HFCM, which I didn't, since I had seen that somewhere on another thread. The fuel filters, which only have 7000 miles on them (almost exactly) are black, which I hadn't seen since I bought the vehicle. What causes this? Do I have Diesel scum growing in my tank? IF so, what do I do about it. Thanks! Mike

OK, I'm going to conclude this at this point... If I find something else wrong after I change the fuel filters, I will post it here.
So, the symptoms were running rough, no power, can't get out of it's own way, and oddly was not throwing any codes (unless this is because my new Dashboss was unable to detect the codes it is throwing). Also, while the fuel filters were dirty, there were no metal shavings or grindings found in the HFCM (as I've seen to be the case on a couple of threads here where the HFCM was going bad, and in which cases they were also running rough, week, and no codes).
At this point my plans are to change the fuel filters (obviously
), do the blue spring mod while I'm crawling around under there anyway, get some stanadyne and dump it both in the tank and in the upper fuel bowl when I put in the new filters, and get the fuel pressure sender for the DASHBOSS.
As I said, I will post back here if this does not fix the problem or if anything more is found to be wrong.
