PID Code for Transmission Temp

I hate to start a new thread since I know this is probably answered somewhere else.

I'm using torque now and I'm wondering if anyone knows the PID code for the transmission temperature as well as the formulas. There was a thread with a bunch of diesel specific PIDs over on the Diesel section and I know one exists for the transmission temp; I just can't seem to find it anywhere. Since they didn’t include a transmission temp gauge on the ’99 models it would be great to keep an eye on it since I think it’s just as important as oil pressure or coolant temp. Although I realize that even if it did have a factory gauge it basically shows ‘cold’, ‘normal temp’ and ‘too hot’.

Hmm... I think there's a Ford powerstroke PID app on Google Play - that might include the tranny temp.

I'll try to find what info I have...

This is for the scangauge, if it helps.

No, it doesn't since he doesn't have a ScanGuage.

Give this a try: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post12720655 Since your 99 is likely an OBD-I systyem, I'd give fair odds that it might not work. I'll have to check it on my 01 later to see what happens.

it is in the extra pid set for Ford in Torque. No need to program it in.
go to settings, then manage extra pids/sensors.
then, click menu and select Add predefined set.
Here you will find a Ford/powerstroke set of pid's. Add it.

He doesn't have a PSD and he may have an obd-i system. He hasn't told us what system he has.

That PID shows as inactive on my 01 OBD-i system.

since he is in ca he might be obd2 compliant. my 2000 EX is a ca model and is obd2 compliant.

Is that on the paid version of the app? I'm still using the free version and all it shows is 'Pontiac Grand Prix' and 'GM/Opel/Vauxhall'. I definitely don't mind paying the $5 if that is the case since it is an awesome app.

I tried a transmission temp PID and formula I found on another thread and it isn't showing anything and that was a list of PSD PIDS, but I was hoping the trans temp would be common, maybe not...

...however, my truck is OBDII. My truck was originally ordered as an export to Canada, and from what I've read all Canadian trucks were California Emission compliant, i.e. EGR and OBDII. Everything else on the reader seems to be working, I just can't get the trans temp. I would also like to find the oil temperature, so I'll see if I can get that to work. If all else fails it just means I'll have to add a set of pillar gauges. I've been looking at 30' TTs, so I would really like to keep an eye on things since you have to climb big grades just to leave the valley I live in. Not that I mind since I do like the look of a nice set of gauges.

Yes, I have the paid version. That might be the difference. If it's obd2 complaint, it should work. check under the hood, mine ha sa sticker saying it is obd2 compliant.
I have not been able to add the oil temp pid. That might simply not be available.
There is actually 2 different trans temp pid's set up.
One works on my daughters vw and the other on the Excursion.
Not sure if this is the actual pid but try fr1805 or try b4

I was also having this problem (2000 Ex V10); Trans Temp 1 or 2 were showing as inactive (not green like the active sensors in settings in Torque).
I did download a plug in (TorqueScan), not sure if it helped, but this is what happened:
1) Went into edit PID's, pulled up Trans Temp 1, clicked edit and then test (after no changes).
2) During the test is DID read trans temp! Closed it
3) Added Trans Temp 1 to screen
4) Restarted app
5) and it works! DESPITE still showing as inactive in the available active sensors.

Don't know why, don't care. It now works.

I know, old thread, but did you ever get tft going on an obd1? I've been scouring the net to get my 99 e450 v10/4r100 to register with no luck. It seems like it should be possible, since I hear people picking up the data via a scangauge plugin...

I never figured it on torque either, I ended up getting a Scangauge II instead.
