My temp gauge started jumping around. I put a new sensor in knowing that wasn't the problem...
Is there a common place that the pigtail shorts out?
My dash gauge stays on the C my live wire starts out at -250 then made its way up to 230. I know my motor isn't changing 480 degrees.

You won't be able to read accurate coolant temp through a scan tool, since the PCM does not monitor coolant temp. That sender is only there for the gauge on the cluster.
Yea that's why I was asking if there is a common spot for a short on the pigtail or the wiring for the temp sensor
Not really. You can get a multi meter on there and check continuity on the wires though, if you feel that is the problem.
I was just simply trying to tell you what you are seeing on the Livewire is normal. You will get a reading, but it will never be accurate, since the PCM isn't receiving any info from that coolant temp sensor. Oil temp is the one you want to watch.
