Missouri Plates

Im looking for a set of Mo license plates for my Bronco.
Wondering if any one knew the differences in the plates in 79. Pass car, truck, 12000Lb 18000lb and so on.

Got a great 1976 set from my grandpas car but Dmv wont let me run them on a 1979.

Call (573)751-4509 for the DMV, they might still have a friendly automated attendant named Dave to misdirect you, or you might get a real person right off.

You can use Year of Manufacture plates on your old vehicles. The plate has to be the same year as the vehicle. Not sure if truck plates required on truck or just any same year plate. The biggest hurdle is the number on your plate has to be unused. In other words no modern plate can have the same number as your old plate. I have several old plates for my stuff but the numbers are in use so can't run them.
Hope this helps some

The 1000 mile/year limit is the killer.

If your insurance company gets wind of it being registered as anything close to a historic status, your rates are likely to skyrocket.

I have three of my vehicles reg. as historic. Usually in a old vehicle the 1000 mile personal limit is not a issue. That doesn't include trips to car shows, to have maintenance done, educational uses. I go to several car shows, anytime I am driving it I am getting ready to do maintenance. I drove my 55 ford, yesterday to the post office to pick up a package, SO i bought gas while out so was a trip for maintenance. I also have them insured as classic cars and the insurance is dirt cheap. Classic insurance is MUCH cheaper than reg insurance if you go through a classic car insurer like Hagerty.

That's true Larry. I forgot about the inroads that the classic insurance companies have made in bringing rates down.

I too have looked at going the classic plates route. I knew the guidelines were pretty stringent. Also..can't you drive them on Sundays and holidays?

I sent in for the tags for the Bronco. 1st time they rejected it because I forgot to sign the app. I resent the app should not be long and I will have my plates.

Cant wait to take the top off and cruse in the bronco.
