My 2002 4x4 7.3 Excursion has differential issues. The limited slip is really "limited" as in locked up. I have also decided to get a new ring and pinion as the pinion bearing is making a noise and the gears are wearing funny. I was thinking about getting a Detroit Trutrac. What do you guys think? Any others to consider? Thanks.

This truck is a daily driver. I want something that is good and will give me a long service life. I do not do much off roading so I do not need anything extreme.

Personally I would stick with a good limited slip.
I would think the lockers would be over kill. They can be harsh for on road only. The factory limited slip is a good unit for mostly street use. The clutches do wear out eventually but is serviceable. The trutrac looks well built, and will likely not slip when needed like a limited slip can. Its also a lot more than getting your current one rebuilt.
If your bearings have been worn out for awhile, that will cause bad wear pattern on gears. Gears may still be usable, of course you might wind up with a little whine.
Is the Detroit Trutrac not a limited slip? Their website says it is a "helical gear-type limited slip differential".
Trutrac is made with gears, not clutch packs to wear out. If your keeping your truck, i vote for thr trutrac. Im not an off road guy, and needed better traction for the increased hp, and am very happy with it! Its not any noisier that my original very limted slip.
