I know it makes it tough with the injector prob,, but the tick only happens when it's warm??? There was a quick hint of a chirp at shutdown on the video for me. Unless I'm hearing things. Mine would make about 3 chirps at shutdown. I also ran mine with the chirp for about 50k miles. Was the #8 replacement inj a ford from a dealer? At this point I would go ahead and pull the #8 injector and double check the install. Another idea would be to swap injectors with a different cylinder n see if it follows. I can't remember,, are you getting cont balance codes?? It's $10 for each injector you pull cause the copper washer needs replaced.
The way it cranks it kinda sounds like youve got a valve stuck open. Pull the valve cover off and crank it and watch to make sure the valve train is doing what it should.

Thank you for the follow up. The new injectors are from Accurate Diesel Option 2 (new everything) They seem like a really legit company and I would do business with them again. The injectors did not come in Motorcraft boxes though.

Thanks for the input, I'm very close to making a decision to pull the head. It's that or the engine.
Heres my hypothesis: If I do a compression test AE or real and it fails then I would assume it's a valve. If it passes a compression test it's a lifter.
My logic says smoke is due to unburnt fuel due to low compression.
Last if I pull the head I should be able to do a visual on the related cam lobe maybe even see the lifter, not that I could fix it without pulling the engine of course.
