Your truck is a 2002 model, which means that even when working properly, the tach will stay at 0 until it is finished cranking and is running.
Good to know, A/Ox4. This is my first diesel, so these forums are a great learning spot. I guess I have a couple spare CPS's though. So, that's an upside. I only hope that the fix is an easy one. The truck pulled the trailer with ease! Well, just up until it died. I suppose I'll find out tomorrow.
Glad to see you at least made it off the road safely. As you probably read in my other thread that you linked, I did not...
Hope to see a positive post soon!
It actually worked out good for us as far as dying location goes. Whether it was close to camp, a big open emergency parking, or right at a freeway exit it was always safe and and worked out, more or less, in our favor. Even the mechanic died right back at the shop. I tell my wife all the time, "It is what it is." This is just a little set back, but when corrected, we'll have a truck that will pull almost any trailer we get.
Well, the shop called and said, so far, the ICP is faulty and they'll need to replace that before going on in their flow chart. The next thing is the HPOP. Please, be good!!! They want $1300 for that little gem. They'll call back after the sensor is replaced.

If this 'shop' is fishing for an answer and charging you..... get your truck and get the heck out of there. My trucks ICP was 'bad' and leaking oil all over for months and it never killed the truck. it only ran 'bad' more in my mind than reality. You could have changed this part yourself. Say no to replacing the HPOP, ask to pay the bill for what was done up to that point and then leave.....
NOTE: A PSD WILL RUN INCREDIBLY ROUGH IF THE IPR NUT IS LOOSE. The symptoms of
this will make you think you've got multiple bad injectors among other things. You might want to check
it for tightness after a few hours of use.

I agree!! Most shops have no clue about these trucks or what they are looking at when it is hooked up to the scanner. These are not gas engines. Hey also you could check the 42 pin connector you never know it may have both UVC plug harness becoming disconnected. search the 50 cent mod!!!
