Good news! HPOP's good! Just the ICP that was faulty. She said (yeap, props to the female mechanic! ) they've let it get warmed up and drove it around and everything else checks out. No stalling out! Hey, it's warranted for 90 days, so we'll see. Picking it up now.

Welcome to the Forum.
Keep us informed on how you are doing. I am not really 100% sure that your problem is the ICP. You should reread this thread and look into the posted urls. Your problem may crop up again and if it does.... it is NOT the HPOP. You should at some time check all of your wiring around and under the valve covers at some time down the road (hoping your not stuck in the middle of the road). Glad it is going for now and hope that it stays that way. Stop in always and learn a little and join the conversation.
Ill wait for till you to take it for a 50 mile drive then report back. I dont see how a ICP would cause it to shut down when you can run it with it disconnected. Did I miss some part of training...
Customer advised drove vehicle for about 55 miles or so, and vehicle would just die. Vehicle would have to sit for approx 15-30 minutes to cool down in order for vehicle to start again. Found codes P1211 ICP not controllable pressure above or below desire. P1212 ICP voltage not at expected level. We measured the injection control pressure sensor (ICP), ICP during cranking was at .46 volts. ICP should be above .80 volts during cranking. We recommended approved ICP sensor to be replaced at this time. Recplaced ICP and found voltage is now at normal specs. We continued with the diagnosis. After repairs tested oil pump putting out 400 to 600 psi which is within specs. And the ICP sensor is now putting out .86 volts at cranking. We ran vehicle at idle for a while and road tested and vehicle did not shut off.
The mechanic said they drove it around for 4 - 15 minute test drives - they didn't want to get too far from the shop should it die . It does seems to run a lot better now. There is a 6 month warranty if anything should go wrong and I'll be driving it around for the rest of the weekend to see if I have any engine dying. Yesterday, I don't even think it was driven 10 miles before it died on the mechanic.

I plan on it. We did check the connections at the VC, but not under. They were both snug.

Nope, not the HPOP (Thank, God!) I just checked the little tin nut and it was tight.
I really hope this is the fix. I'll definitely report back should the problem creep up again. And I plan on visiting this forum regularly. I'm pretty good with the gas engines, but this is my first diesel. So, I need all the help I can get!
All of us here were diesel neophytes at one time or another.
We stick around and learn a tidbit here, a tidbit there, until.....
It's a good place to hang your hat when you want to learn about your truck, as there's virtually nothing that can go wrong that someone hasn't seen before.
You'll learn the common faults and how to do something to prevent it from happening to you, making the rig MUCH more reliable.

Definitely. I always say, "If I'm having a problem with anything, there's someone else out there having the same problem!" I hope I'm not revisiting this thread unless it's good news or just some comment.
I'm still holding out...
With IPR problems, they can go away, making you think you fixed it. I really dont see how the ICP could possibly be the problem... I think the shop just solved a problem, not the problem.

Dang you for being right! We drove about 10 miles today and the truck died on us while we were sitting in a left turn lane. Luckily, we were about a mile from the shop. So, I talked to the one mechanic that came to get us and told him about the IPR. They'll be looking at it tomorrow morning. Hopefully, they'll figure it out.
Can anyone answer this is? The shop was the 2nd time I've heard about the oil in the truck. Both times the people have commented about how clear the oil is. The first person, a Ford mechanic, said that when they change oil in the diesels, the oil gets black real fast. The shop told me the same thing. The shop said they compared oil on the dip stick with known oil and determined it to be diesel oil. Just thought it was kind of odd to hear it twice.
I knew that was going to happen. Did you take it back to the same place?
Diesel oil turns black really quick but it doesn't mean its bad. I hope ur using oil thats made for diesels. To tell how ur oil and engine are doing, take a sample and send it into www.blackstone-labs.com.

Cornfuzled...
Are you saying that they commented on it being clearer than normal?
When was last oil change?
Are you running a bypass filter?
Just to satisfy my own paranoid curiosity...
When you are next in proximity to your truck in a running condition... remove the oil filler cap and flip it on its back over the fill adapter... it shouldnt pop up much if at all.
Do you hear your turbo spool up when you get on the skinny peddle?
