Temp Gauge
So I recently did a DuraSpark conversion on my truck, runs so much better now, too, but the temperature gauge connector is different on the DuraSpark wiring harness than the ECT sensor I currently have in there. I've tried just wiring it to the sensor and then grounding the sensor since the plug only has 1 wire, but that didn't seem to work. I'm guessing that the ECT that I have in there currently for the EEC IV system has different resistance values. I also know the gauge works because if I ground it directly, the needle moves over to the "H".
But that's not really my question. My question is I'm only getting about 11MPG in the truck and I'm wondering if that has anything to do with the non working ECT. I know I won't be getting great gas milage since I still have the old Feedback Carb on the truck (haven't been able to find a non-feedback at a junkyard and can't afford a new one) but I was just wondering what might be causing the bad mileage.
Note: I have new spark plugs, new wires and a new cap and rotor, working on getting a new coil as well.
Thanks for the help!
And you said you did a "Duraspark conversion". You converted from points to Duraspark? Or do you mean you converted from DS-III to DS-II? If so, what did you replace?
I don't want to sound condescending, but you cannot make vague statements like that with no supporting detail and expect us to be able to give you reasonable suggestions.
