Temp gauge

I have a 95 F150, the temp gauge is not working, I replaced the sensor and still the same thing, when I turn the key on the gauge drops to the bottom on the cold side, using a multimeter what should I test for at the plug for the sensor? what should I look for? Should I just buy an aftermarket gauge and install it?
Thanks in advance.

Well, you can either buy the aftermarket unit (that's what I did, you'll be happier with it anyway) or you can trace out the short/broken wire in the circuit. It could be anywhere. You'll probably spend a couple hours tracing wiring before you find it.

There are two temperature sensors on new Fords. One is for the gauge and the other one is for the engine control. The sensor you should have replaced will have one wire on it. If you replaced the sensor with two wires you replaced the wrong one for your problem.

I replaced the one wire sensor to the gauge, it looks like a open circut.
I guess anyway.

A properly operating sensor will vary in resistance with temperature. I'm not sure of what the correct readings are. The measurements for a 95 Taurus are 74 ohms cold and 9.7 ohms hot. They are probably the same for your Truck. You can take the wire off of the sensor and ground it. It should than read full hot. If it does than your wiring is ok. With the wire off and ungrounded you should have full cold.
