Temperature gauge

I am having problems with my temp. gauge.I have installed a new sender and it still does not work.I have also got me a salvaged cluster and took the gauge out and still does not work.I was wondering if the engine has more tha one sender. It is a 4.9l 6 cylinder. Please let me know if anybody is familiar with this problem.Thanks,Eric.

Yes the 4.9 has two temp sensors. One has two wires and it sends the signal to the computer. It is located right on top in front by the thermostat housing. The other has only one wire and it is for your temp gauage. Been trying to think of where it is located, but I can't remember. Getting old sucks, but it sure beats not getting old.
You can test the gauge and wiring by removing the single wire from the sensor and ground it with the ignition turned on. It should go all the way to edge of the scale. Remove the ground, and it goes all the way back. If that happens the wiring and the gauge is ok.
Good luck Frank

If I remember correctly, the other temp sender is on the passenger side of the engine block under the exhaust manifold.
