Hey guys Im from the Diesel world and trying to help my Brother in law , he has a 2009 ford Ranger, 2.3L .with 54thou miles, the Issue is Vibration during in gear and stopped at a light no vibration at higher rpms during driveing, he states vibration happens in park ,neutral, reverse and drive. had the truck in for repair in two separete dealers they couldent find the problem its an automatic trans. he states from day 1 this truck has had the prob now its out of warrentee.dealer told him that trans to engine alignment was the prob dealer did some alignment and worked for a few weeks. thanks for your advise in advance
Guess what Im getting at is in my little comutter car the Torque Converter went bad and cause Vibration especialy in gear stopped and Lower RPMs
It would also Drag the Idel Down(RPM) with it sitting there say at a light or stop sign when in gear at a Stop
Bad Torque converter will put metal shavings in the trans fluid
Mine acted up close to home so I drove it 1 matbe 2 miles to get home and then fixed it so I didnt get much metal if any in the trans fluid
Never heard of a Trans alignment
All I have worked on Once the BellHousing was bolted Tight to the Back the engine its Good
So if you get playing with it and you see some adjustment or something that would align it I would Love to see a Pic of it if you can if not dont worrey about it
Yes they did a dump and fill I would guess, dont know about filter change, he had the dealer do the work , he did say truck has always had the vibration, I'll be talking with him tomarrow, and see if I can get some pics .something doesent sound right on the alingment thing .I ll let him know about the torq convert. Thanks Benny
Benny, There is no adjustment , that I can see , but when starting the hole motor Mount and tranny mount , looks like a fish out of water a lot of movement, I can see what would aper to vibration when at idol because of the mounts, theres 2 bolts a blueish color cap then from under the truck a ball looking thing with a bolt off the frame when truck starts and shuts down the whole motor and trans assembly rocks and rolls, I snaped some pics but dont know how to load into fte also via my cell phone so I could tex send them if needed.
Thank you Terry , I pulled some pics up last week, I'm wondering if the motor and tranny movement is a norm for these trucks ,hell my 350 6.0 diesel dont move That much, maybe the mounts are shot there only 5 years old ford installed on a warrentee.
