I am trying to find out if there is an aux input (PIE or something) for the 2006 ranger with factory 6 cd indash. I just put one in my F350 now want one for her truck too.
It is a 6 cd in dash, no sat radio and no aux button. I have done some reading and it sounds like pressing CD twice is how you access aux, but im confused as to which adapter i'd need as it doesn't list one for an 06. I know that doesnt mean its not available because the one I used in my 07 F350 was only supposed to fit up to 06.
For my 04 350 I went to the local car stereo place and he installed an aux for teh system which did not have one. Forget how it works but I think you have a station that is not used tuned to it and then it also has a on/off switch to use. Seemed to work ok but I dont use it very much.
So you had a professional install an FM adapter? You could have done that yourself for a fraction of the cost. FM adapters produce poor sound quality.
I run a PIE adapter in my '96 Taurus since I wanted everything in that car to look stock. It replaces the stock CD changer.
Wish I could pull a part number for you. You might be best off stopping by a car audio place and checking with them. Some setups don't have PIE adapters, if thats the case, you might need to upgrade to a different radio.
I decided to make some radio removal tools with a coat hanger and pulled it out. Looks like we're out of luck, only plugs are the factory one and the antenna, no empty slots.
Hmm, yeah thats not gonna work. I would get a dash kit and a nice head unit and just step up to a nicer aftermarket head unit. Myself I'm partial to the Kenwood Excelon stuff, but those are kinda higher end. I don't like Pioneer, they are what I call too mainstream. Clarion is pretty good, as is Alpine. Lots of good choices, go by layout, budget, and reputation.
Yup, she liked mine so decided she wanted it too. I was hoping it would be simple to add, but I guess if she wants it that bad a new deck it is! For now FM modulator will have to work.
I've been googling for the last few days looking for a aux input for my 2002 Ranger. They are available, but I have not seen any for the 6 disc. Mine is a single disc. Good luck and let us know how you make out.
