On a trip to Maggie Valley this week, went to turn air conditioning on, turned the temp control to cold and it only blew out hot air. When I stop I can get it to blow cold but when I start driving it starts blowing hot again, it's like the controller is not working. It's on a 2007 Super duty with a 6.0 with 218,000 miles. Any thoughts on what it could it be, thanks. Oh by the way you can hear the compressor kick on.
isnt the air controller electronic.. which would use vacume line to move the selector and keep the vacume to shut the door. make sure there are no cracks on the lines to the selector door. .under load it could be pulling move vacume than at idle.. just my .02
What controls for the AC do you have Electronic or manual?
Can you tell if the AC compressor is running?
You said you can hear it kick on. It could be low on refrigerant
or the compressor could be having problems. Also Does it start working
when truck is cold and go away when it gets warm? That could be a clutch
that has gotten a bit worn. Somethings you can adjust them by changing
the shim. Crawl under with a flashlight and a feeler gage set.
Read this link on the how to. The gap may not be the same for the 6.0 and
you will need to set if to 0.35~0.75mm or 0.014~0.030". I got that out of
the 2006 Ford Superduty workbook So it should be good. Any more than that
and I would have to have it here and a set of gauges for the AC.
Post back what you find and we will go from there.
