I've got an adapter plate bent from 10 gage, which duplicates the factory bolt patern and the Sprinter floor brackets bolt to it. I still have to tweak it a bit so this is just a test fit.
Bench is out of an T1N (?) Sprinter 05 or 06. It's a 3 position. 64" wide. Just as wide as the 4 person. It was so wide I actually had to cut off the arm rest pivots. There is a 54" seat available, but this is what came up on Craigslist.
Looks like the E-series isn't wide enough for a Sprinter 4-seater bench.

I think it might be. On a conversion van the interior may be wider than a factory because there is about 3" (7.6 cm) of space between the metal and plastic. See my edit about seat widths.
When you say you have a bracket bent from 10ga...the piece on the bottom is not plywood? Or is the bracket on the other side of that?
Those Sprinter seats, and the ones in the Nissan vans more so, are pretty neat set-ups. I bet the new Transit will have configurable seating like the Nissan. Also, a power sliding door would be nice. But this is about the seats...and your solution is pretty cool!

That rusty piece is 48"x25"x 10gage mild steel. With a 1.25" lip on each 48" length. The Sprinter brackets are the silver things. They are ment to recess into the floor and are 1.25" deep.
I copied the Ford bolt pattern and am able to bolt it down at the 1st and 2nd seat positions or in between them for a kind of "Halfback Van" with room for a table in front of it and lots room for whatever behind it. I plan on making the front seats swivel. The seat is a beast though. Definitely not stow and go. More like heave ho!
