I have one injector getting so hot the fuel is melting the plastic return cap. After 5 min. At idle 7 of the injectors are 55-60 deg. The other one was 125 and climbing.
Does anybody know what causes this.?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
as they said, that injector is junk. if you're flat broke, buy 2 injectors and a return line kit, and carry the second one you bought as a spare. once one injector goes out, they're all pretty tired, and replacing them all is your best option, but carrying a spare can get you by for a long time if necessary.
Thanks guys, just bought the truck for parts, but runs good enough so my son is going to drive it. Shows 249,000 but I have no idea what if anything previous owner did to maintain. I have a good set of used injectors, should I change them all or just the one?
Use cation when installing used injectors. They accumulate dust from sitting on the shelf. Did the same thing last year and it ran worse. At the least send them out to get cleaned and pop tested. It's not too much money compare to a towing bill.
Pop testing is used to check the pressure at which the injector cracks open and atomizes fuel. the injector is hooked to a line and a hand pump is used to build pressure, the tester has a gauge on it so the operator can see at what pressure the injector pops open at, also they can check spray pattern and leakdown.
Don't trow away the old injectors they can be rebult to better than factory spec's by fellas on this forum...
Who on here rebuilds these Injectors? I have 12 I would like to get rebuilt if the price was reasonable. Since I have recently bought 8 new ones I would put them up for future use.
