hey guys my temp guage seems to go up super fast! litterally it is up to the middle in two minutes of driving. is this normal? truck is an 06 3v v10 with 5r110. my duramax i had before this the trans temp would hardly move unless towing. I am a little concerned as I havent really towed anything yet and weather is still cold here in canada! whats it going to be like in summer with my 10k tt hooked to it?
Yes, it is normal, my 08 does it as well, the 5r110 is thermostatically controlled, so it does not start circulating the trans fluid through the cooler untill the tranny reaches about 170F. Nothing to worry about.
The real reason it goes up to normal so fast is that the gauge is designed to be in the middle of the normal range once the trans has warmed up all the way to 50F. In the summer the gauge will often be in the middle as soon as you start it.

I would suggest getting a Scangauge 2. The gauge is a glorified idiot light that doesn't even move from the middle until 265*. At the point your hurting the transmission.
At 265* the gauge still read normal. Ill see if I can dig up the video, it could have been a faulty gauge or something but I would feel the gauge should move before 230*
i've been looking for a scan guage 2 but seems hard to find here in canada. most people i talk to have never heard of it. just wanted to pick one up locally rather than order it online, but may have to.
