I am going to guess my trans temp guage on my 2004 V10 is not a real guage it only moves to midpoint and stops, towing or not.I want to install a real guage .I did this on my F150 through the trans outgoing line worked fine. Can i just hook the new guage to the exsting wireing on the tempsencer i have now or do i have to rewire the from scratch?
The gauge works fine, it just doesn't wiggle at every 1*F temp change. Ford did this because most people (I know not you ), get all excited when the needle moves from "U" to "A". So Ford damped it down to not swing very much.
The needle pretty much goes to the middle of the gauge from 51*F to about 220*F - 230*F, which is the normal operating range of the 4R100. The needle starts climbing above 230*F and hits yellow around 250*F, red above 250*F.
jschira Yes i do get a little excided with this truck it spends more time in the shop than on the road. For example puff of smoke on start up rough idle(seems to be smoothing out the more miles i put on)horn shorted out lost cruse control and it only has 4300 miles on it.Say one thing sure does tow my camper. Thanks for the info.MOC
