Turn key --- Nothing
Went to start my 99 f250LD 4x4 with 5.4 today and nothing happened. I thought it might be the safety switch so I moved the shifter around a little and still nothing. When I turned the ignition switch off there was a ticking sound coming from the inside fuse panel . It clicked about ten times and stopped. It repeated the exact pattern 3 times. I checked the battery cables, I know the battery is good, cables were tight. I said what the hay and tried it again and it started right up. It started again later when I checked. Any Ideas?

next time it does it, see if the "theft" light in the top center of the instrument panels stays lit while you crank. I have had two aftermarket keys "fail" in the last week. They were programmed and now do not start, only crank. Originals are still good...Try another key ?
