vin numbers

i'm just wondering where is the body type code? i don't see it in the vin #.
i also have seen in a couple posts that the ser.# for a 47 start around 141200 (something). mine is 1401172 do you think this is a later 46 maybe?

The body type won't be found in the serial number. All that you can get from that is what ton rating, what year, and what engine. What are the first 3 or 4 digits? Post those and we can figure the year. 1GC or if it starts with 6 is a 46, if it starts with a 7, then its 47. Either way, your truck sounds very close to the cutoff.
