What is the general consensus on shock boots? Use them or not?
I had Icon's "in house" shocks on my old truck. They did not come with boots so I never put them on.
My new truck has the BDS lift with the BDS "Fox Shox" on them. When I checked out, boots were an option which I selected. The boots unfortunately never made it to the shop.
I live in Ohio which has everything from dry and dusty to wet with salty roads.
Boots can protect the shock but they can also hold stuff in.
I'd run boots. Simply because if a tire kicks a rock up and nicks that shaft, then it'll tear up the seal, it'll start leaking, then you have to buy a new shock. Don't get me wrong, I love the bootless look. But in the real world boots make more sense. In my opinion at least.
