Ever since I was drug up onto a flat bed by a tow truck operator my front end has been very sloppy. So much so that I was pulled over for suspicion of DUI. TWO people called and reported me. The officer followed me and didn't witness anything but just stopped me to make sure I wasn't drowsy. I explained it to him and he said no problem.
What happens is I have to maintain a slight right hand pull to go straight and sometimes it will start to wander left. Also the steering is loose feeling.
I went in for an alignment and they said they couldn't do it because the tie rod end had too much play. What is the validity to this? Also, what else should I check for play?
I also have new tires now and this has helped significantly.
The upper and lower drag links, the tie rods and the steering box can all lead to steering wobble or a "loose" front end. They're all very closely related to how the vehicle rides down the road.
