My 2003 F250 7.3l SD started setting off the "dinger" upon start up.
It goes 5 seconds, starts a 5 second series of 5 beeps, then silence for 5 seconds then again. It does this 5 times and then normal silence.
And it just started this morning. Throwing no codes, diagnostic scanner picks up nothing. Seat belt is latched. Doors are shut tight. I am at a loss and it is very annoying.
Has anyone ever heard of this. Google, so far has yielded nothing. So I turn to where someone always has an answer.
My guess is that your Airbag light doesn't light up anymore like it used to during a function check (initial key-up)....
I deal with this every day. It will do its regular series of 5/5 and then stop. Every 30 minutes, it will remind you again with the same series of tones.
I removed the AIRBAG and ABS bulbs 18 months ago since I have no use for either "nanny" function and they both have faults causing the bulbs to stay illuminated.

So. That was it. How do I remove those bulbs? And that will shut it up?
As I recall the dinger is to announce a problem with the airbag system. They think it is important so they make it annoying. The problem is hopefully just a burned out dash bulb. Check the airbag light on the instrument cluster when first keying on. If not working, it needs replacing. If the light works, the problem is somewhere else in the airbag system.
As for replacing the bulb, here is a link: Replacing Instrument Panel Lights. I never had mine open but sounds pretty straightforward. Good luck!
Mine did the same thing. Ended up being the bulb itself. Not sure if the "link" is for using the resistor, but i had no luck with it. Found a 12v led bulb at radio shack and soldered in. No more dings.
