Charging system issue.

She's having trouble starting first thing in the morning, today being the worst since I've noticed it over the past few days. It took three times, waiting for the wait to start light to go off first all three times, to fire up. Once running the Scan Gauge is showing normal 14.1 volts so she's charging but first starts of the day are very slow.

I just came back from Autozone who tested the batteries, starter and alternator resulting in an all is okay. Batteries (tested in series so only connected to one) tested at 12.99 volts (@ 100% so will not take a charge) with the truck off and starter and alternator did not over pull upon start up meaning they are good according the Autozone.

What could possibly be wrong? What could draw power overnight? Thanks.

you need the GPR-led mod. With WTS going off, doesnt mean, that there's FULL JUICE at starter.

Once the led goes off, then you have absolute power to starter. Its night/day difference in starting, with led on / off

How do I do that and where can I get the parts? and on average, how long does it take the led to go off? I'd like to time it.

Also, is it possible the gpr is stuck closed but if so wouldn't the glow plugs burn out?

I think we're on the right track. I just went out and let the wait to start light go off and waited for about another 30 seconds. She fired right up, instantly.

you can put a inexpensive volt meter in cigg. lighter port and watch your voltage pop up when glow plugs are done glowing, but the led would be a cleaner looking.

I have a Scan Gauge II that shows voltage. I'll have to watch it tomorrow morning.
