spark plugs
It is my understanding that in 2005, the 5.4 was prone to having the spark plugs break off in the head when one tried to remove them after being there for 100,000 miles. It is also my understanding that Ford has since corrected this issue. Does anyone know when the problem was taken care of? We are looking at a 2007 F-150. Thanks

I believe 2008 was the year for the redesigned head but possibly some late build 07's as well. If the boots on the coils are brown it has the redesigned head and no plug break off problem. If they are black it is the old style with the breakage issue.
