Scanner advice; recommendations
I realize there are many scanner threads but none that I have found that answer my specific question:
I own a 96 F250 7.3 and 2003 Excursion 7.3. I am looking for a scanner/software that will give me real time, live feedback on engine functions/performance.
I would prefer to use a setup that will work with my laptop as opposed to a complete self-contained hand held unit.
Now here is where I go off the deep end..........I would like to know if there is any such scanner/software out there for around $500 or less would even be better?
Any suggestions/recommendations or am I completely in La-La land?

It looks like it is exactly what I was looking for only substantially below the $500 threshold!

I ordered the AE from Riffraff yesterday and paid $29 extra for 2nd day air. A little concerned though since I didn't receive any shipping notification today?? Hate to waste the $29.

Well, looks like I wasted my $29! Never received a shipping notification from Riffraff; just tracked the order after signing into my account and it will not be here until Tuesday! This is my second disappointing experience with Riffraff in a row! I suppose that will get me alienated on here from the way everyone raves about them but it is what it is.

it will go out Friday and you paid for 2 day shipping.... how did you not expect Tuesday?

I am not trying to be an *** either. I ordered it Thursday pm and I guess I figured with the extra $29 for 2nd day air it would go out first thing Friday morning. As best as I can tell from the order history, it didn't get processed until Friday afternoon. Maybe I don't understand 2nd day air but I figure if it leaves Fri. morning that puts it here Saturday or worst case Monday. If that seems unreasonable to expect then I guess I sit corrected!

Also, it doesn't matter when it was processed both common carriers pick up once a day... at the end of the day. So it doesn't matter if it was processed in the morning or in the evening so long at it was processed before the pickup time (sounds like it was).
so 2 days from going out on Friday... would be Tuesday...

EDT: also.. if it leaves friday.. saturday would be overnight with saturday delivery. Saturday delivery is SOMETIMES available and when it is it costs and extra $50 on top of overnight fees (at least $25). I ship a lot so I know...
