Yeah, i didnt cut my time down the second time much if at all because it took me a while to figure out how to replace the u joints. Im with the other guy, just put the new hubs on and keep the old ones. Theyre gonna go eventually, might as well have confidence you have a solid front end
To get the axles out you have to remove the Hubs, just makes sense if you have the hubs off just to go ahead and pull and rebuild the axles while your at it. And of course the ball joints are right there too. I did this and i have piece of mind that nothings going to go down or need repairing for a while.
I dont regret for a minute just doing everything. Actually the rule i follow MOST of the time is that if i take it off, i rebuild repair or replace it, unless its been replaced recently. It saves time and ultimately money IMO. Heres an example, i replaced my ball joints on the right side of my Jeep but they told me the ones on the left side were ok, 6 months later I was replacing my Left side 35" tire ($350) on the left side of my jeep because those supposedly still good ball joints on that left side went bad shortly there after the ones on the right side and i didnt realize it till it had ruined my tire. I could have spent the $30 bucks up front and spent my free time replacing all the ball joints and id still have had that tire another 20000 miles or longer instead i was stuck replacing the ball joints and the tire. :-( $$$

riff raff makes a zerk fitting that you can screw into the sensor hole for greasing the splines onces it is all assembled but if you apply grease before hand during reassembly you dont have to re grease through the hole at the same time as you are already greased and ready to go.

Looks like Im starting on the front end after work tonight. Supposed to be crappy weather tomorrow. If it wants to be wet, I'll put up my EZ-up. Theres no way Im kicking the hot rods out of the garage.
I hope to at least get the driver hub off this evening. Anything further than that is a bonus at this point.
Good luck! You'll be fine it's a fairly easy job u might wanna take before pics so u remember thee order for reinstall.

I just dropped my F350 off at Ford this morning to have the ball joints replaced on both sides. I would do it myself but since I just moved and all my garage stuff is in storage and waiting on a house to rent, I didnt feel like ripping the storage unit apart to find everything in needed. I did buy the FRX ball joints for them to install. Come to find out there made in taiwan which pisses me off. If I would of known that I would've looked elsewhere. Does Timken make ball joints?

I bought Moog from Amazon.
I was going to have my local shop do the work but they wanted to charge me more for bringing my own parts. Plus, they dont work on Saturday and I need my rig weekdays. I may stop to borrow a tool or two and see what they say.
I like buying made in USA when available, but when XRF gets the best reviews on all the forums, thats what i went with
That was the main reason I bought them, they had very good reviews, I also thought they were made in USA. I do like that their greasable, thats a plus.
Well, I'm at about 3 hours and have the new ball joints in the knuckle. The stub shaft looks good so I lucked out there but I will be using the new hubs. They're tight but I want the new ones on it. The u joints are tight too so I'm skipping that for now. I know I know, they'll get done before winter though.
If you are installing greasable ball joints, index the zerk fitting on the bottom of the new ball joint so when you press it in it is faceing to the front or rear for greasing, I have mine facing the rear. Jmo
Also you mentioned you had a leaking windshield, this should be taken care of soon, many of people have had water get into, I think the PCM behind the left kick panel on the driver side and cause lots of issues! Someone didn't install the windshield corretly. Fwiw.
