On my 78 F-150, there's a common diamond plate "step" bumper installed....it's been hit and bent a bit, and has to go...... I wanted to go back to the factory chrome look, so I ordered a stock bumper.....not here yet, but on the way.
I've never done one of these before, and want to know if the brackets are the same........? OR, does the step bumper come with it's own set of different brackets? We're removing the step bumper now, and from the looks of it, it's not a stock bracket set-up......BUT, just a guess.
What am I up against here? Do these step bumpers use stock brackets, or not?
Your bumper mount part should have 2 bolts in the top on each side and 1 from underneath. If what your taking off mounts this way it "should" be correct.
This step bumper has a "bumper bolt" on each side of the "face" of the bumper (none on top), and 2 bolts underneath on each side that attach brackets to the bumper....these are hidden from the outside.....
I wish I had the new bumper for a comparison, but experience says I'll probably have to buy or fabricate something..........
