Bumper bracket interchangeability
I recently sold the DMI bumper off my truck and am now on the hunt for a contour style bumper with the associated brackets. What I am wondering is if the brackets and bumper from a 73-79 would work with the 80 and up trucks.

The part numbers are different between the 1973-1979 bumper and the 1980-1986.
D3TZ-17906-A compared to E0TZ etc...
Doesn't mean to say the bumper itself won't work though, because they are the same length etc. More than likely you would have to do some modification with the bumper brackets and make it work to fit the 1973-1979 version on your 1980-1986 etc...
The 1965-1972 contour, and the 1973-1977 F-250 4x4 AKA: highboy are different yet...
The Contour bumper off the Broncos 1980-1986 will also work, but not the brackets.
The brackets are not being reproduced anywhere either.
My advice is to find a good set of bumper brackets for 1980-1986 pickups, even if the contour bumper is not in great shape, and then try to find a good bumper off one of the Broncos if needed.
