Hey guys I'm looking to sell my f150 lariat loaded for 20k. Very well worth it considering everything done to it. I'm looking to buy a diesel truck because that's where my guruness is. Now I'm a Ford guy through and through only ever owned Ford. I've done all my homework and here is where I'm at. I want a 6.4 but not sure if I want to get a 4-7k loan since I'm going to college in a year. Or sell my truck and get a05-06 cummins with the 5.9 HO. There cheap and I can get a low millage for about 20k. Maybe I'm looking for some reassurance from Ford guys? The 6.0 is out of the question unless its bulit proofed and built.
Both are good options. I'd buy the Ford over the Dodge, but you can't go wrong with either of them. They're both good trucks. They both have decent power and pull decent MPG empty.

Just throwing this out there, why would you buy a diesel if you're going to school next year?
You'll pay for it in ride comfort and decibel levels if you go Dodge.
I'm one 6.4 owner that disagrees with most on the 5K oil change and 10K fuel filter change. I go half again that far and perform those services @ 7500 and 15000 respectively. Of course I'm using a top of the line engine oil coupled with oil analysis.

I change my oil every 5000 km (3000 miles), but the fuel filter changing turned out to be a waste.
Every time we pulled it, it looked brand new.
Seems like some people have either more issues or dirtier fuel than I tend to come accross.
If you can swing the few extra bux now and have a decent income to support the maintenance then Ide buy the Ford. I LOVE mine. The Dodges are nice to but there cheaper for a reason. You get what you pay for. Any diesel you buy will have a higher operational cost then a gasser. If your going to school and are on a tight budget Ide keep what you have until your finished.

I am at a point where I have a year before college and a very well paying job and can pay off the truck in no time, and my college will be very cheap the first 2 years before I go to Purdue
