So here's the deal... I'm wanting to add a sub or two to my truck in addition to some speakers and a head unit to improve my musical listening experience.
My issue is, I can't seem to find a good location for one (or two) subwoofers. I have an extended cab truck with buckets in the front.
I'm trying to maximize the usage of the back seat. I considered doing an L shaped sealed box that has the woofers firing upwards, similar to a box that huse (another FTE member) built https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...-trucks-2.html
The idea I had is the skinny portion goes under the bottom of the back seat, and the tall part lands behind the drivers seat, with a single 10 inch pioneer. The internal dimensions result in a box with 1.08 cubic feet, which is just over the manufacturers recommendation of 1 cubic foot.
The issue here, is I'd need to block up the rear seat quite a bit. Not sure how that would work with moving the back of the seat up, because of the trim.
So, short of folding the seat down and having a fullsized box sitting on top, anybody have recommendations for placement?
if you go with a shallow sub like the one pictured you can build that same box but more compacted. go to Rockford fosgate's web sight and do the specs on how many cubic feet is needed depending on what sub you want to go with. I have the prime series r2 12 behind my bench seat and it rocks pretty hard!
Is this the '87 F250? If so the rear seat is useless as it is unless you're 3 feet tall so my solution is to raise it 4-5" with C-channel under the mounts and then you'll have lots of room for subs.
I have this done in my truck, if you search around here for threads about subs you'll see my pics.. it has the red vinyl interior. From what I remember the lift was dumb easy and it puts the top of the seatback just below the window trim and I believe the seat bottom actually rests on the sub box but I could be wrong on that. The only downside is the seat no longer flips down flat but I never used it like that anyway and a side benefit is it's actually much more comfortable to actually sit in.
I put a box in my truck and just folded the seats down. No one sits back there anyway.
That's what I'll probably end up doing The only time I ever have anyone sitting back there is when my friends and I go backpacking... Probably wouldn't be a good idea to leave the subs setup in the truck at a trailhead for a few days anyway...
