I just had a scare thinking the knocking sound my truck made was a spun bearing. Working on the truck today, we discovered the uvch had become partially unplugged and #8 gp was completely undone.
after correcting, truck runs and sounds like it used to before the "event".
now my question, while running the truck without the v-cover on (cc test which it passed with exc of #8..grey cps) i noticed a lot of smoke from the injectors. each injector on this bank was smoking like a freight train.
The oil is hot or at least warm. When the oil is expelled out of the injector you will see "smoke" which is more or less the difference between the oil temp and the outside air temp. Pretty normal to see with the VC's off.
I haven't seen how bad it is, but I know I get oil vapor there, plus the exhaust manifold is right below. If the manifold got oil on it, it will be sky-writing under the hood and it will appear to come from the injector area.
Not water vapor. The injectors have an oil spout on them that ejects oil. You are seeing that and the smoke off of the oil.......This is more than likely normal.
You can see it in this video. May not be the same as you see, but the weather makes a difference in how the vapors look with the temperature.
