Afternoon Guys,
L99, I decided to install the Sonnax Valve kit Modulator (kit # 96948-01K) in the 4R100 today. Following the instructions supplied I removed the valve body, screwed in the 8mm bolt and commenced to remove the old sleeve and line pressure modulator valve per the instruction. However, I cannot get the sleeve or valve out of the bore. The direction say this would not be easy, so take my time. OK, an hour later I have yet to remove the sleeve or valve. In the beginning the valve moved to a point then stopped. I tried solvent per FTE member Neal and then Brake Clean still won't budge. I the lightly tapped the sleeve back into the bore and tried to pull it out once again. This time it won't even move in or out or turn. I believe there could be a burr hanging up the sleeve? I don't want to damage the valve body. I need to find a way to remove this assembly.
I would appreciate some help on this if you have some experience or have installed this kit in your own truck. I sure would hate to have to buy a new valve body.
Jeff

You did remove the retainer first, right? It doesn't just pull out.
If the retainer is out it just needs to be pulled out. Sometimes it takes a slide hammer.
Thanks Mark......I never thought of using a slide hammer. I'll locate one and give it a try. Yes, I did remove the retaining clip per instructions. Thanks.

I had the same problem and I just just keep working it in and out of the bore and when it was pushed in I felt a little ridge near the outside edge so I used some 1000grit wet sand paper to knock it down. And I still had a hard time working it in and out to get it all the way out. Thw new valve also wanted to hang up in the bore so I used 1000 and 1500 grit wet sand paper on that outer part of the bore to get it to slide nicely. But if you do that be very careful and don't use anything less than 1000 grit oe you could scratch up the bore. Actually I think Sonnax has a tool for that bore.
Good luck and if you have a small slide hammer give it a go,

Ed, Thanks for your input. Late yesterday afternoon I was unable to locate a small slide hammer. I'll head to Harbor Freight today and see what they have.
I do have some 1000 grit paper and will use it after I remove the sleeve. My concern is damaging the valve body. I may need to use it as a core for a new one from John Wood.

I couldn't locate a slide hammer this morning. Returned home frustrated and ordered a Greg Evans valve body with the kits installed. Mark thanks for your suggestion. I would have like to have found the slide hammer and given it a shot.
