2000 Excursion Hitch
Hello Everyone. I have a 2000 Ford Excursion. My trailer hitch receiver rotted out. I called a salvage yard and asked for a hitch they sent me a hitch for a 2005 Excursion. Will it fit my 2000? 
I can visually tell that it is a different one.
This is the one on my truck now. It is also rotted even worse on the back.
Hitch from an 05 Excursion:
Im going to bring it to the shop next week. They said the only way they can tell if the bolt pattern is the same is to drop the fuel tank and see if there are extra holes in the frame. Thanks for your help!

Why don't you get an upgraded receiver?

Where you able to see the pictures? There are no after market hitches made so i do not know what you mean.

To what I understand, excursion hitches r specific to excursions. No replacements r made. The only difference from I believe 00-01 to the 02-05 r the size of hardware used to bolt it to the frame. Not 100% on the year change in hardware but I know it happened and it also raises the tongue weight. I'm sure someone here will chime in the the exact years.

Get hammer/Torch/Sledge/tree&chain = remove old junk
Get hands+hold up to frame = check fit/finish
If not same, WELD
DONE!

This is of course not recommended. What if you need to replace something underneath the truck and it's in the way? That's right just unbolt it an...... wait, it's permanent and you can't work on the truck now. Well damn. Do it right the first time
