VCT or Cam Phaser?????
i have a 04 f150 fx4 with the 5.4 v8. my truck has a tick to it. it dose it all the time, hot, cold, at idle, and while driving. i thought it was a cam phaser but ive been hearing people say bad cam phasers make the engine sound like a diesel engine. my dose not sound like a diesel it just makes a ticking sound, my dad says it sounds like a 350 with a rod knocking, however now that it dosent sound like a diesel im woundering if it could be the vct.
any help would be appreciated

i did a search on you tube and this is not my truck however this is exactly what my truck sounds like. in my opion it dose not sound like a diesel but then again i havent been around diesels that much. this guy says it was a loose spark plug, i already checked that but im off to double check.
