So my goldwing will be paid off next month and the thought was to order my new F150 Platinum and have it here by July. (for the forth of July rebates) After finding out that I will be PAYING for the first time ever for taxes this year I had to make the decision to hold off on getting my truck and pay some more bills down. We had to drastically change exemptions for this year to not pay again next year and I don't want the wife to worry about bills while I tack on another huge truck payment on top of it.
I have been waiting patiently (sometimes impatiently) for the day I get my new truck...and now it seems like years away. I told my wife yesterday that I won't get the truck until next year and will just drive the Sequoia.
I think about getting a truck all the time...see them on the road all over and it is going to be hard wait until next year. I look forward to talking to you guys to help keep me sane until then.
Sorry for the rant...just bummed.
Maybe I will test drive some trucks here and there to help me get through it
If your budget is such that a few K in tax payments is going to make you wait several months to buy a new truck, then maybe you shouldn't be buying a new truck at all (or, at least, not a mid-$50K Plat).
Sorry about that. I know you were really looking forward to getting a truck this year. If you're not dead set on a Platinum model then maybe you could swing a truck this year?
PV, when you're 96 years old and contemplating your life's decisions do you want to be saying, "Gee, I'm really glad I paid Uncle Sam back in '13 instead of driving a new Ford....."?
I hear what you guys are saying...and no the taxes are not the reason I made the decision. I guess I realized it would be prudent to not get the truck yet even though I want it pretty bad. (Yes I can afford it)
I appreciate all the thoughts from you guys I guess I was regretting (somewhat) having told the wife that even though I know it was a smart decision. I was really looking forward to seeing how that ecoboost would pull around the boat this summer.
The Sequoia does run really great...surprisingly how peppy that 4.7L motor is in a big SUV. The only other brand new vehicle I have bought in my life was a Honda CRV when I was in the military, otherwise I have always bought used vehicles. Also there's something about that Platinum that feels right.

I was going to get a 2010 Lariat F-150. The dealer had a great incentive on this truck and I nearly pulled the trigger. I was chomping at the bit like you are now but I waited till the 2011's came out JUST to see how much of a difference there would be.
My neighbor ended up getting the 2010 Lariat that i was looking at before I got my truck and I was all kinds of bummed out as he got a smoking deal on it.
Now he's pissed big time that he didn't wait, after seeing my truck and listening to me talking about my MPG's power, etc.

IMHO, the next gen will be worth waiting for.
I sure hope so Tim...I do like to have the latest and the greatest....and we all know how long that lasts (about one year) I waited for the 2013's especially due to the HID headlights and the power telescoping mirrors. Guess I will valve to see what is next.
