I was driving the truck and the "tow/haul" dash light starts blinking, the "check gauges" light is on, and the "check engine" light is on. Also, the trans temp gauge on the dash is all the way down.
The truck shifts fine, the tow haul mode seams to work fine. Im thinking its a trans temp sensor. What are your opinions? Thank jordan.
Pulling codes would be the next step. A basic reader may not get them all, especially the ABS codes. Maybe something snagged the trans harness under the truck? Or squirrels have been chewing on it?
Woulda swore I read ABS in there somewhere. Check gauge light is on because of the trans temp. Could tow/haul flash for the same reason? So the dash can light up like Christmas because the trans temp sensor is out but you can melt down the engine without the first indication of any issues on the instrument panel...wow
You need to scan for stored codes.
Like Rusty said the cheaper readers don't get all the codes some times.
That also goes for the "FREE" reading that they do at places like Autozone.
It's a case of you get what you pay for. If you were close by I would say
come on over and I can scan it with my Snap-On Solus. That invitation is open
for anyone with a 6.0 that is near by.
